    Kaman Industrial Technologies, a $800M division of Kaman Distribution Group (backed by an industry leading private equity firm with a track record of success), has an opening for an Accounting Manager to join our accounting department in Bloomfield, CT.  The ideal candidate will have demonstrated success in leading and overseeing general ledger accounting functions while improving accounting processes and procedures. The Accounting Managers’ primary responsibility will include oversight of the general ledger accounting functions of Kaman Industrial Technologies (KIT) and consolidated Kaman Distribution Group (KDG). This role is responsible ensuring accounting group alignment with company values and objectives while maintaining compliance with internal controls and US GAPP.  Responsibilities include oversight and development of accounting employees and effective communication with all levels of management and outside constituents.  Experience with developing and establishing processes and procedures is preferred.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    • Manage and oversee the general ledger accounting function of KIT ensuring staff work cohesively, operate efficiently and effectively, and meet applicable deadlines.
    • Oversee and perform month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities, including journal entry review/posting, account reconciliation reviews, and elimination/consolidation activities.
    • Oversee and assist with fixed asset management, cash management, accounting accruals and estimates.
    • Perform monthly trend analysis of the Income Statement and Balance Sheet, presenting findings to management.
    • Review reporting packages and bank deliverables, as applicable for accuracy.
    • Communicate effectively with accounting staff, set performance expectations, evaluate performance, and provide coaching and development opportunities.
    • Manage and complete all assigned accounting projects in a timely and accurate manner.
    • Continually develop, expand and improve processes and procedures for accounting operations.
    • Assist in interim and year-end financial statement audits with internal and external auditors, ensuring accounting staff deliver timely on audit requests.
    • Work cross-functionally with functions including Finance, Treasury, and Tax, providing consistent, timely and accurate support to all. This includes communicating information to all levels of management, as well as, with local and remote teams.
    • Assist with the acquisition due diligence and associated integration efforts as needed.
    • Assist with development and testing of internal controls.
    • Collaborate with Assistant Controller on special projects and month-end closing activities.  Assist with researching technical accounting guidance for accounting changes/issues and execute the proper application.



    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
    • CPA or advanced degree strongly preferred


    • 5-7 years of progressive accounting experience, with 3-5 years supervisory experience preferred
    • Advanced Excel skills including pivot tables, vlook ups, and sumifs
    • Ability to excel in a fast-paced environment
    • Proven success in process improvements
    • Ability to manage multiple projects/priorities at a time
    • Strong knowledge of accounting principles in accordance with US GAAP
    • Experience in various ERPs and Accounting applications a plus
    • Experience with acquisitions and integrations a plus
    • Experience with internal controls a plus
